2006-10-17 [Lothuriel]: Thank you.
2006-10-18 [Elegy - gone]: Haha, I love that one, [Mom]! :D
2006-10-18 [Mom]: Thanks...I was afraid there were monsters everywhere when i was small. Now I love the dark.
2006-10-18 [Elegy - gone]: [akhirah], wow O.O <3
2006-10-18 [Lothuriel]: Ohmigosh!! I just noticed the one under the bed and under the dresser!! That makes it even better!
2006-10-18 [moira hawthorne]: [Mom] duckie! PJ! <3
2006-10-18 [moira hawthorne]: [akhirah] oh my god1 i love yours! brilliant!
2006-10-19 [moira hawthorne]: [Artsieladie] yours looks so fun and happy!
2006-10-19 [Lothuriel]: Fun and happy?
2006-10-19 [Artsieladie]: Indeed! The one brewing up the demons' summoning spell is delighted! he he Afterall, her spell is working! The soul(s) of which they'll haunt and frighten, well, that's another matter! I 'usually' do my art & writing with light, rather than darkness. I hear of & see enough darkness on/in the news! :P
2006-10-20 [Angelic nightmares]: How is Freddy not a childhood fear? He hides in your dreams.
2006-10-20 [Lothuriel]: He is not considered a traditional child hood fear.
2006-10-20 [Calico Tiger]: Exactly. He's a movie character that some people (usually teens and older) who have seen it might be afraid of (and definitely the characters in the movie were afraid of him). Not a traditional childhood fear :)
2006-10-20 [Perplexity]: Really good Yncke! Man, the covers are supposed to be a safe haven! What will we do when monsters do not respect that? *scared*
2006-10-20 [Asrun]: You know, you guys could have ASKED me to remove my entry before doing so yourselves.
2006-10-20 [Sunrose]: I didn't know it was going to be removed already, because I have messaged you about your entry. But on a general note, we have been somewhat drastic and removed all entries we thought didn't fit the theme (enough). I'm sorry if that has upset you :(
2006-10-20 [EmeraldGrizzly]: WOW! Way too big Entry!
2006-10-21 [Ocean Soul]: Took the liberty of fixing this for you, [amrazon] (resized and put it in the right place) :)
2006-10-21 [amrazon]: Thank you [Ocean Soul] That was super cool of you. I was trying and didn't seem to do it right. :)
2006-10-21 [Ocean Soul]: Anytime! It can seem a bit tricky when you're not used to it :)
2006-10-21 [amrazon]: Ummm..I can't get it small. lol
I hope it is acceptable now. If you need to remove by all means do so. No hard feelings here. Happy Halloween!!!
2006-10-21 [Lothuriel]: [Asrun], when did anyone remove your entry? I went back all the way to version 100 and no one had touched it.
2006-10-21 [Asrun]: o.o wth.. it was gone, I swear.
I'm removing it anyways. :o
2006-10-21 [Lothuriel]: Hmmm, I believe you. I was just trying to figure out what had happened.
2006-10-21 [Asrun]: I may have just missed it when I scrolled down. :O Sunrose sent me the message, so I went to remove it,then saw it was gone, and was like.. wtf...
2006-10-21 [Lothuriel]: I just don't know. Sorry either way for the confusion.
2006-10-21 [amrazon]: OMG [Perplexity]...that is so true! :P The bathroom walk was always so creepy. Great job!
2006-10-21 [Lothuriel]: Oh, I know! Mine was right across this really long hallway. There was light directly in front of me but, darkness on either side. I would yell for my Momma everytime I had to pee. I would make her walk to the bathroom with me, lol...
2006-10-21 [amrazon]: I just love Ode to big brothers. It's so..:sniff: touching! Awwwww...I wish I had a big brother like that. Mines would scare the bejesus out of me. Bad meenies!!!
2006-10-21 [Lothuriel]: LOL...yeah, my sister would have been the one telling me there are mummies in my closet!
2006-10-21 [Perplexity]: Thanks, amrazon - I would always have to make the perilous mad dash to the potty, sometimes closing my eyes in fear lol Lucky I didn't hit any walls on the way... could have been messy!
2006-10-21 [moira hawthorne]: [amrazon] - The Closet is awesome... and I really love the peom aswell...
[Perplexity] - Afraid of My Own Shadow ... awesome perspective! very effective!
2006-10-21 [Perplexity]: Thanks, moira - I am hoping to get one more done by deadline. This is my favorite time of the year heheh
2006-10-21 [moira hawthorne]: yes... mine too... decorating the house this weekend... Eirikr been after us for 2 weeks
2006-10-21 [Kyrinn]: I think if I lived in a neighborhood where we got more trick-or-treat
Now Christmas.. I go nuts decorating for that one, especially since its Mykael's favorate holiday and he LOVES to decorate for it.
2006-10-21 [Lothuriel]: I am one of the crazy people that decorates insanely for each Holiday...exce

14. Removed: Entry violates Rule No. 2 - drawings must be new. That means you may not submit a drawing you have made before this contest or one that was submitted to another contest already.
this entery was made for this contest...
after the contest was in progress...
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: No it wasn't.
2006-10-22 [moira hawthorne]: yes it was... I was already working on my entery.. window fear so that was after the contest was announced... and Talkris post new art up and we talk about it and she wanted to submit it to this contest... and we talk about how to make a peice together that would match the rules.. and I came into this contest and asked about whether collabs were allowed.. before we did the collab... and I got ok... that they were so we diid the collab and talkris submitted it... than we were told to explain how it fit the theme and we did... all this was after the contest was in progress... this collab has never been anywhere else before this contest!
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: The original art was posted in [Talkris]' house with this description:
Beastial War: Awhile ago I had started a series that was never finished nor posted. I am starting it over now and hopefully I'll be able to finish this time. This is War in beast form; roaring proudly after a victory.
Ballpoint pen 11x14 Image copywrite to me
and had been posted for at least a month before the contest began. Therefore, the entry violated Rule no. 2. as stated above.
2006-10-22 [moira hawthorne]: that was not the collab.. the collab is a new peice of art...
just b/c there was a drawing that existed before thuis collab this peice of art is the ORIGINAL...
what I stated is true... it all made after the contest started after getting approval!
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: You did not get specific approval. You asked if art collaborations were allowed and we said yes. The entry clearly violates the rules and is therefore not allowed. The original sketch was not created for the contest.
2006-10-22 [moira hawthorne]: but the collab was... [Talkris] didnt submit a sketch made before the contest.. we submitted a collab ... a new peice of art... made for this contest!
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: I am not going to keep repeating myself. The entry is not allowed and that is the final word. I didn't come to this decision on my own, nor was the situation taken lightly. The rules do not apply to just one half of the collaboration.
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: I'm sorry - just a question - how can something be part of someone's personal series they started a while ago, yet you stated beneath the entry to this contest that it was inspired by Pet Cemetary?
2006-10-22 [moira hawthorne]: the artist Talkris chooses to use it also in a long ongoing series... of drawings... but she made it during this contest for this contest and it was inspired from pet cemitary... I dont see a conflict... if I want to calll a painting one thing on this site and something else for another site... or project og mine.. its my right.. we followed the rules of the contest as they were stated and asked for permission to enter a collab... and was told we were... and thats what we did,...
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: Ok, sorry, I was just wondering.
2006-10-22 [moira hawthorne]: and Talkris said the drawing... the original drawing before the collab... was done during this contest.. well Lothuriel seems to think it was up for a month before the contest... and I asked Talkris about that... b/c I rememebr it as begin new... she told me it was new.. and I hadnt seen it ever before on her house!
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: Yes you said that in your previous comment.
2006-10-22 [Talkris]: To clarify the confusion, I had started the series last year but left it. I decided to start it over with the drawing I had done for this contest. It made me want to start over because my skill level had evolved since the original (which was not even War, it was Pestulance). I did, in fact, do that drawing specifically for this contest, however, after it was finished, I had decided to use it as the first in my series.
I hope I was able to clarify this and my work will not be the subject of further debate/argumen
2006-10-22 [Talkris]: The decription did not state that it was not for this contest. The description I wrote did not even mention this contest.
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: That is exactly my point.
2006-10-22 [Talkris]: I chose not to write on my house about this contest. I know that most of these are just popularity contests, and I do not like calling attention to myself, another reason why I have never entered one before. However, what I choose write on my house has nothing to do with this contest. This is an art contest, not a house contest.
I understand this is your contest, and you can do as you wish. I am just irritated that it took you this long to remove my entry. It should have been removed as soon as it was entered rather then waiting this long.
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: First of all, this is not my contest. I am one of many running the show. Please see the comment posted at 01:07:09.
The reason it took so long to remove your entry? Removing someone's entry from this contest is not exactly something we look foward to. It is not easy for one of us to just come in here and remove someone's hard work from the contest. It is also not something that any of us have taken lightly. Each entry was studied, discussed and then a decision made. None of us wanted to jump to any immediate conclusions and yank entries based soley on the opinions of one individual. We have tried to be fair.
The conclusion reached on the collaboration was made based on the description of your original posting of the sketch and the dates for which the collaboration was agreed upon. The description given did not state that it was made for this contest and that is why it was decided to be in violation of Rule No. 2.
This is not a personal thing.
2006-10-22 [CrimsonDarkness]: I was told to redo my sketch because it wasn't scary enough. I just deleted it. I spent 3 weeks on the sketch for this. My appologies if it didn't fit the criteria or wasn't scary enough to rationalize anyone else's fear. But, it was mine. My father used to tell me about witches doing spells in the forest. How scary they were because they tried to hurt people with their spells. I however didn't choose to make it grim or gruesome for the simple fact that I am now Wiccan and would rather not defile myself and my religion by attmepting to make somthing that it's not. Good luck to everyone else with entries. Maybe I'll come up with somthing more gruesome next time.
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: Look, I am not here to cause trouble. I am not here to debate. I do have a life outside of ELftown. Elftown is a hobby, an art community, not a way of life. I think more people need to realize that. You don't like the rules of this contest? You don't like the way things are being done? Then stop bickering and start your own contest with your own rules. Trust me, creating contests is very addictive. =0]
2006-10-22 [Talkris]: "Your" was meant in the plural sense as I know it is run by others, nor did I accuse of a "personal thing", but I digress.
I was merely clarifying what had been said about me and about my drawing. As I said, the only argument I really had was the length of time it took for removal. For the future, before removing an entry, it would be best to discuss it with the artist in advance, so it can be fixed and improved instead of just being removed.
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: I really dont think that arguing the point is going to matter at this point. [Lothuriel] has stated many times now that it is gone and will NOT be allowed to be entered again. I do understand the disappointment this may cause for those whose entries were removed, but its time now to back off and just deal with it. All I have seen here is a lot of whining and crying and a lot of "its not fair" going around, not any real debating on it.
So please, lets just drop this. Insulting a member of the council is not the way to get your entry put back in.
2006-10-22 [Jeccabee]: ok...well before it's totally dropped...whil
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: I agree that the genie picture is questionable as far as an actual fear of a child. Ive never heard of someone being scared of a genie (at least in my circle of friends growing up)
Perhaps if the genie was shown in comparison with a child, with a frightening feature, or something.. O.o I dont know if Im making sense really, Im kinda pooped. *passes out*
2006-10-22 [CrimsonDarkness]: It wasn't remove by the council. I removed it after receiving a messege from one of the council stating," I have a request, also on behalf of the Council, about the Halloween Art Competition:
Would it be possible for you to make your entry a little more scary? The theme is traditional childhood fears, and even though we consider witches as such, your entry doesn't look like a very scary witch.
Of course I understand witches have many forms, but it should be more clear why you'd be afraid of this one.." So I just decided to delete it rather then trying to spend another 3 weeks to make another piece of art for this contest. Sorry for the disappointment
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: *shrug* Im just saying. Im not in charge of this contest at all but I have been watching it, and I remember some of the ones that were pulled and I agree with the reasons why they were. However, Im not saying I agree with that kind of comment. More however, this IS about child hood fears so they should be scary and dark. *shrugs again* I really, REALLY dont want to start another fight in here, becuase there has already been enough fighting.
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: I think there has been enough drama in this, so lets just drop it. the owners of the contest will see these comments and respond to them.
2006-10-22 [Jeccabee]: sorry I wasnt trying to add any more drama...I just came in late and was trying to understand the situation.
2006-10-22 [CrimsonDarkness]: I'm not trying to start drama either. I was just letting people know that I removed it and why.
2006-10-22 [Elisha Kelly]: Good drama finished.... we're all friends again... (well mostly) Group hug! *hugs, giggles and farts*
2006-10-22 [Sunrose]: To answer the question about the witch and the genie:
The witch itself is drawn in a traditional way, but she looks like a very happy and nice witch (rather alike a fairy): it wasn't very clear why you'd be scared of such a witch. Traditionally we don't think children are scared of nice witches, such is more a personal fear.
<URL:img/ph
The genie is a traditional fear for children where [banu] comes from, when looking at the drawing you can actually see that the genie has a pretty evil expression.
As for the request to make the witch more evil: A tip on how to do that, would be to change her facial expression for starters. I don't think it would take 3 weeks to do that, an evil facial expression can be made fairly easily by changing the eyebrows and the mouth. Such small details will truely effect the whole imagery.
In conclusion: Several images were questionable, in some cases it meant that we decided to remove it and in other cases it meant that we decided to leave it up. Before making such a decision, we tried to take everything into account. Since we do not want to take such decisions lightly, it took some time before we removed any images. The Council itself had to have a discussion about traditional and personal fears first, because not all of us were aware of the difference when starting the contest. Especially considering that traditional fears are often relating to culture and religion, of which we have a wide variety on Elftown.
In reply to [Talkris]: I don't see how removal of your image would stop you from fixing and improving it for resubmission. The reason we remove images before discussion with the artists, is because new contestants might see the images and make a similar 'mistake' with their own submission.
I agree that it would've been better if it had been done immediately, apologies that we didn't manage to do it like that for this contest.
As for the image itself: Even if you did make it for this contest as you say, there's a problem with the theme: As far as I know pet cemetaries aren't actual traditional fears :/
In fact I never heard of pet cemetaries until Stephen King wrote a book about it >_>
2006-10-22 [moira hawthorne]: Sunrose... the reason stated for the collab of Talkris and myself being removed was that it was made before the contest.. this was based on an opinion gathered by reading a description on Talkris house in which this contest wasnt meantion... Talkris gave her reasons why it wasnt and they are valid... to not be seen as a popularity contest... and she is allowed to use her own art in any other way she wants... after entering in a contest... the art in its interiority was made for this contest after this contest was announced.. during the running of this contest... there fore... we did folow the rules of this contest... and removing it was a mostake... what corrections could be made by talkris to this peice based on that? the correction should be that it be placed back in the contest.. as it does follow the rules...
as for discussion of the theme now.. that was already discussed perviously... we were asked to give our reasons who it matching the theme and we did... zombiees and fear of the dead are tradional fears... as a child my brother terrorized me by saying he had my dead cat in the garage and was gonna stuff it and put it in my bedroom... Talkris lived beside a cemetary and to her the movie was a childhood fear... the art had already passed on it theme..
it wasnt removed b/c of not following the theme
it was removed as being made before the contest..
which was proven it it was not...
there was a mistake made... can it please be corrected?
2006-10-22 [Lothuriel]: I feel the need to explain myself.
Well the issue of some people's entries not being scary enough...it is hard to explain but I will try. People took the theme out of context. The theme was suppose to be Traditional childhood fears. That meant traditional by cultural standards not by personal standards. We ended up letting a few slide because they stood in the middle of traditional and personal fears. I don’t think a lot of people fully understood that.
It hasn't been easy for me to go in there and remove entries that people really worked hard on. As an artist I understand what it is like to have someone tear into your artistic ideas. However, had we not stepped in, things could have gotten out of hand. I was only afraid that we would end up with a crap load of entries that may have been good quality or of decent quality but, still way off the theme of the contest.
Yes, it would have been easier to just avoid the problem and simply not include certain entries in the final poll. The problem I saw with that is that it would not have given everyone a fair shot.
I have said it before. I log onto Elftown nearly daily to visit with my friends and explore new art styles. I am here out of hobby not as a job. I am proud to be on the Crew. It is nice to know that all my countless hours have not gone unnoticed. But, I really don’t want to come across as a control freak or a stuck up know it all.
So please, stop taking this contest so personally and realize that this is the internet. This is not real life. This is not a contest who's winner is going to gain fame and fortune. I and many others did the best we could and tried to be fair.
I don't wish to discuss this matter any more. I don't want to see anymore comments about it in the contest. What is done is done. Just move on before things turn nasty.
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: Um.. You had to put a huge description with the picture so that people would understand what you meant. If you had to put that up for ppl to get it, then it is too vague a reference. The ones that are up there, I can see what they are about without much of a description.
Now can we stop the drama and enjoy the contest? I understandt he disappointment
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: I like pie! =D
2006-10-22 [sequeena_rae]: Agreed XD
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: YAY FOR PIE!
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: *offers an assortment of cream pies*
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: I think it should be pumpkin pie, don't you?
2006-10-22 [sequeena_rae]: Fitting for the occasion :P
Though I prefer rhubarb myself xD
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: Mulberry rhubarb is divine. Strawberry rhubarb is a close 2nd.
2006-10-22 [sequeena_rae]: o.o; I just generally have rhubarb xD
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: Pumpkin Cheesecake.. *drools* the only way Ill eat pumpkin pie..
2006-10-22 [Perplexity]: Oh yeah pumpkin cheesecake - that's good stuff.
2006-10-22 [sequeena_rae]: I've never actually tried pumpkin pie/cheesecake >_>
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: its good. Its the only way to have pumpkin in a pie!
2006-10-22 [Asrun]: I LOVE pumpkin pie!! Mmmm.... So tastey! :D
2006-10-22 [Morningstar Rising]: Apple caramel for me, but it makes me itch. LOL
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: I love any kind of berry pie. 89
2006-10-22 [Morningstar Rising]: yea berries are good.
2006-10-22 [Kyrinn]: Ooo,, though it is time now for my yearly making of pumpkin choc chip muffins.. *drools*
2006-10-23 [Morningstar Rising]: Never heard of those.
2006-10-23 [Kyrinn]: They are really good, I modified a recipe I have for them.
2006-10-23 [Morningstar Rising]: sounds good and yummy.
2006-10-23 [Kyrinn]: They are! *wishes she could press them through the screen*
2006-10-23 [Morningstar Rising]: Now that would be really cool.
2006-10-23 [Kyrinn]: Internet muffins..
2006-10-23 [Morningstar Rising]: *laughs* They would be a hit. I think we need to stop talking about this on here, cause it has nothing to do with the contest and we might get booted. ^_^
2006-10-23 [Kyrinn]: *snicker* very true. ^_^ Its nice to have something to talk about OTHER than fighting though.
2006-10-23 [Morningstar Rising]: yes it is. you can always pm me if you wish.
2006-10-23 [Kyrinn]: True. =B Its close to dinner time here though. Dont be surprised if you see a message from me later this evening though. *grin*
2006-10-23 [Morningstar Rising]: thats cool, I will be on till late.
2006-10-23 [akhirah]: aww i love [WestFactor]'s peice XD
2006-10-23 [moira hawthorne]: no huge boobs... are youu sure its West's art...?
2006-10-23 [Sunrose]: Amazing, isn't it? x)
2006-10-23 [moira hawthorne]: shock to the system!
2006-10-23 [akhirah]: haha i thought that too moira xD
2006-10-23 [Perplexity]: Maybe the boobs are under the bed?
2006-10-23 [moira hawthorne]: the boobie monster!?!
2006-10-23 [Sahraminkukka]: Entered my first official ET-contest... :)
2006-10-23 [moira hawthorne]: good good!
2006-10-23 [Perplexity]: Congrats! Welcome =)
2006-10-23 [Sahraminkukka]: Thank you :)
2006-10-23 [Kyrinn]: Hey nice one West!!
2006-10-23 [Ariandra]: I'm sure the boobies must be ON the monster!
2006-10-23 [Kyrinn]: and that would be scary..
2006-10-23 [iippo]: The boobies are on the teddy >:D
2006-10-23 [Perplexity]: That's just wrong...
2006-10-23 [Elegy - gone]: :O So that is not a paw?!
2006-10-23 [Perplexity]: Oh mah goodness!
2006-10-23 [Ariandra]: LMAO!!!
2006-10-26 [amrazon]: Nice new pics!!!
2006-10-26 [Lothuriel]: Oh my gosh, [Ssapzyne Del'Armgo] you captured the moster grabbing under the bed thing really well...*shiver
2006-10-26 [Lothuriel]: Sorry guys but, No.s 41, 48, 51, 54 are nice pics but, they don't fit the theme of the contest. Please refer to the top of the page to see the theme! Thanks! ^___^
2006-10-26 [Ssapzyne Del'Armgo]: Thanks! :) I'm personally fond of #26... makes me laugh everytime I look at it!
2006-10-26 [Yuriona]: I dunno... No. 51 looks like a kid cowering in bed as the clock strikes midnight. Now fear of midnight or the 'witching hour' is a traditional fear but is it a childhood one?
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: Ah! how do I resize? O.o I feel stupid.
2006-10-26 [Calico Tiger]: I remember the fear of midnight being a pretty common fear amongst kids. At least, when I was one :) Once it was 12:01, everything was right in the world again as it was no longer the dreaded time of ghosts and other nasty things, and you were safe for another 23.9 hours ;)
2006-10-26 [dayah]: wow so many nice entries...don'
2006-10-26 [BinaryPhoenix]: [Sapling] to resize, just add 300 after the IMG and before the : in your image tag. IF you still are confused, click on the edit button, and look at how others did it. ^_^
2006-10-26 [moira hawthorne]: [Sapling] "Happy Haunting" is really really cooooooool! i love it!
2006-10-26 [Yuriona]: It is a very nice piece [Sapling] but I'm afraid I don't understand how it fits the theme of Traditional Childhood Fears.
2006-10-26 [Lothuriel]: You know, I didn't even notice the kid in the bed on number 51, so it's ok. Sorry about that and no number 56, doesn't fit the theme of the contest. Very awesome as it is, sorry.
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: "Things that go bump in the night?" Thought it was close enough. *sigh* Guess I'll try again then.
2006-10-26 [Lothuriel]: Traditional Childhood Fears...
2006-10-26 [Angelic nightmares]: Do we still have time to submit entries?
2006-10-26 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Til the 25th.
2006-10-26 [Elegy - gone]: Which was yesterday =P
2006-10-26 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Oh. Wow. xD I hadn't realized.
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: I know *tear* I started a new entry and realized it was to late half-way through. *curses darkly* oh well.
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: *points out at vampires, the grim reaper, monster and genies are rather close to my concept of shadows, ghouls and ghosts but unlike mine. were allowed to stay in the contest.* was it cause mine had a sort-of human leader in it?
2006-10-26 [Elegy - gone]: Yes. "Prince of Ghouls" is not what would be defined as a traditional fear.
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: but ghouls are...
2006-10-26 [Elegy - gone]: Yes, but if the rules weren't strict on that, then I would be able to draw a large, cute bunny with a a clock next to it that showed midnight and claim that it depicts a traditional fear because the clock shows midnight and the witching hour is a traditional fear. See my point?
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: no. -_-' mine was hardly a sweet and fluffy drawing. Thats a poor example.
2006-10-26 [Elegy - gone]: The point is, that just like the bunny, your prince did not follow the theme and both of them were the main focus point of the images, therefore the image doesn't fit the theme.
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: So I suppose if I had said he was a vampire it would have been fine...
2006-10-26 [Elegy - gone]: I don't know, but now it's too late anyway.
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: It wasn't when I submitted it. *sigh* oh well. Good luck there Elegy.
2006-10-26 [EmeraldGrizzly]: I hope to see more of your art Sapling, I thought yours was brilliant :)
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: ^_^' thanks! That makes me feel a little better.
2006-10-26 [Elegy - gone]: Thanks ^_^ and don't let this scare you from entering other contests, Doom-El is right, it was brilliant :)
2006-10-26 [Zab]: I agree:P But even brilliant images has to follow the theme.
2006-10-26 [EmeraldGrizzly]: True, I can't wait for the Fantasy Creature contest, you going in Sapling?
2006-10-26 [Lothuriel]: Yes! Sapling~~~ your entry was awesome~~
2006-10-26 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: Now i regret i didnt participate...
2006-10-26 [Sapling]: Lol me to! go figure. And thanks guys, It's nice to hear that people like my stuff.
2006-10-26 [Dirty DaVinci]: With so many contests going on Sapling, you've got your choice of what to participate in. Whatever you choose, good luck!
2006-10-26 [EmeraldGrizzly]: I like it alot! Reminds me of "The Darkness" from Top Cow Comics XD Whay DaVinci said too.
2006-10-26 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I hope I do good. ><
2006-10-26 [EmeraldGrizzly]: I like your Boogeyman X)
2006-10-26 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Thank you!! ^-^ You're style's very nice. =D It kinda reminds me of Tim Burton's NIghtmare Before Christmas.
2006-10-27 [EmeraldGrizzly]: Hehe, thanks alot, if you didn't notice, the Monster had a stroke, the left side of his face is lower than the right XD
2006-10-27 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: xD I didn't realize. Should've never said anything. =P
2006-10-30 [Asrun]: Good luck! :D
2006-10-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Awh. I didn't qualify. ><
Good luck to you who did!!!
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: ya... I didn't either. *pouts* I wonder how they decided who would make the short list... I really can't believe that Zab's entry didn't make it!
2006-10-31 [Lothuriel]: The finalists are chosen by the same type of poll as the winners.
2006-10-31 [WestFactor]: lol...
2006-10-31 [Lothuriel]: Um, yeah...took much sugar crack.
What I meant to say was. The finalists are chosen by a poll.
Yeah...that...
2006-10-31 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: xD
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: ah... do the judges vote then? I'd have thought they'd discuss it. But ya.. guess there's more than one way of going about things..
2006-10-31 [Lothuriel]: Yes, the judges vote in a poll.
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: well that works I guess. Still think Zab shoulda made it though... lol well I guess she can blow her own horn. What's done is done. It's only one contest after all. :)
2006-10-31 [Lothuriel]: All entries were voted on, if that makes you feel any better. I would have voted for nearly all of them if I could! There are just so many awesome ones!
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: heh. well I feel special now. :P heh I just want to win ONE contest, just one... then I'd feel better. :P Maybe I should just work on improving my art though...
2006-10-31 [Lothuriel]: I know the feeling...I would be thrilled silly to win one!
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: ha! I was so mad when I got third place for the Desktop contest...and then only the top 2 where credited! ARG! heh...and I was so proud of myself too...
2006-10-31 [Lothuriel]: *hugs*
2006-10-31 [moira hawthorne]: I won 2nd place in the creature feature contest and didnt get credited... but I was still very happy with 2nd... one was just way tooooo cute!
2006-10-31 [Lothuriel]: Indeed! The little blue guy? I can't remember which one. *brain is fuzzy*
2006-10-31 [moira hawthorne]: [Amerthyst] Polly Playing Around on my computer... Again. (Larger version in my house)
won 1st place... and the spot on main st...
thats normally how the contest go..
the 1st place winner gets the glory!
my 2nd place...
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: *dreams* One day....
2006-10-31 [WestFactor]: Poor Scarlet! :( You'll win one. :) Though I never expect to win a contest decided by public voting (lol). It really is like American Idol so I just try to post a cool pic and forget about it. If people secretly like the entry, then it's all good. :P But if you really want to win, go for the judged contests! ;)
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: Awwww... thanks West. Coming from you that means an awful lot. I should do that some time...
2006-10-31 [5thwitch]: I use contests to improve my self, I'm a very lazy one, so having a deadline and a fixed theme. I can challenge my self and get better ;)
2006-10-31 [Kyrinn]: I like just to enter contests. Its nice to win, but hey, its more fun to enter. Doesnt matter to me if I get credit for it or not. ^_^
2006-10-31 [Thistlewood]: Yeah, but you have to admit, when you do make the top 10 finalist, it does boost your esteem a little bit.
2006-10-31 [Kyrinn]: Very true. I just dont enter contests for that reason any more. I just enter to enter is all. Going into a contest with the expectation of winning anything isnt really fun to begin with. You should enter a contest becuase you want to, not because you want to win and be popular and stuff.
2006-10-31 [Thistlewood]: I enter cause I want too! And face it, I need lots of practice to improve my skills and having a theme and guidelines to follow helps.
2006-10-31 [Kyrinn]: Yes it sure does!! It makes me think and create new peices, which is just fine by me! :D
2006-10-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: ya. I love seeing what I can come up with within the parameters of the contest. Helps me expand my repitoire
2006-10-31 [Kyrinn]: Yup! Me too!
2006-11-01 [kittygirl1017]: Good job everyone! :P
2006-11-01 [Janouk]: Congrats to the winners! :)
2006-11-01 [banu]: Congrats to the winners!!! o^_^o
2006-11-01 [Mekashef]: Indeed! Mazal Tov!
2006-11-01 [Ssapzyne Del'Armgo]: Great job everyone! It was fun!
2006-11-01 [5thwitch]: yeeeee! congrats to all!
2006-11-04 [Vampire Akis]: thankies dear. *shakes hand*
